This handcrafted sauna, delivered to a rural property in the McBride, was a custom version of our 8’ x 8’ Mini Mode—featuring an all-wood exterior, something we hadn’t done before. Designed in collaboration with the client, this build took shape quickly after an on-site visit and handshake agreement. The final result? A clean, elegant wood-fired sauna, ready for installation on a matching wood patio just steps from the client’s home.
How It Started
This project kicked off when the client stopped by our shop to check out a few of the saunas we had under construction. After seeing the quality of work in person, he was ready to move forward immediately. We shook hands that day and got started on the design.
Honestly, we wish there was more of a story here, but sometimes it's just that simple.
The Build
This unit was our 8’ x 8’ Mini Mode Sauna layout, built for wood-fired use and outdoor installation near the client’s home.
One of the first custom requests was an all-wood exterior—something we hadn’t done on a sauna before.
Rather than mixing materials, the client wanted a seamless cedar look that would match his planned patio and blend into the natural surroundings.
We went with full cedar siding on all sides, paired with a black metal roof and flashings. To complement the exterior, we installed a black metal door with matching black hardware.
This also features 2’ x 4’ benches. We’ve started upgrading all our benches to utilize 2 x 4s so we can have hidden screws and a stronger bench system.
The Installation
This project was a delivery-only build. The client had existing site equipment and preferred to handle the installation themselves.
We delivered the completed unit directly to the property. With other construction work underway and machines on-site, the client planned to set the sauna in place themselves and install it on a raised wood patio—making it easily accessible from the house and matching the overall aesthetic of their outdoor space.
Another Successful Project!
This sauna was a great example of how simple customization can make a big impact. By choosing full cedar cladding and DIY installation, the client created a unit that fit both their style and their schedule.
From handshake to delivery, this was a clean, collaborative build—and a standout addition to our sauna lineup.
